Spot UV business cards start with our Xerox Versant digital colour press, then move to our Duplo Spot Coater which lays a raised, glossy coating exactly where you have specified in the artwork. The spot UV shows against a matte or silk base for maximum contrast: logo, name, texture pattern, or full flood. Standard 14-pt and 16-pt cardstock; premium 32-pt for high-end clients. Send a separate spot-UV mask layer in the PDF and we proof before printing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Spot UV is a raised, glossy coating applied only where you specify in the artwork, not the whole card. The contrast between the raised glossy area and the matte or silk base gives cards a premium tactile finish.

Yes. Send a PDF with the spot area as a separate spot-colour layer (usually named "SpotUV" in 100% magenta or a named spot swatch). We proof the alignment before printing so you can confirm which areas will be coated.

Matte or silk-finish 14-pt and 16-pt cardstocks show the spot-UV contrast best. Gloss stocks reduce the effect because the base is already reflective. Premium 32-pt double-thick stock is available for the highest-end look.

Four to five business days for a standard 500-card order. One extra day compared to regular business cards because the spot coating requires a second pass through finishing.

100 cards is the minimum. Because the spot coater has a per-run setup, the per-card cost drops sharply at 500+ cards; most orders sit in the 500 to 1,000 range.
