Booklets print on our Xerox Versant digital colour press, which handles short-to-medium runs with sharp text and consistent colour across every signature. Interior pages run on 80 to 100 lb text stock; covers on 100 lb cover or 12-pt card, matte or gloss. For finishing, saddle-stitch handles 8 to 64-page booklets with two wire staples through the folded spine. Perfect binding covers longer books, up to about 300 pages, with a squared spine and printable spine copy. Covers can be laminated on our Matrix Laminator for durability.

How much does booklet printing cost in Montreal?

Booklet printing at CDM Print starts at $120 for 25 saddle-stitched booklets at 5.5 x 8.5 inches, about $4.80 each, and drops to $1.30 per booklet at 1,000 copies. The 8.5 x 11 inch size starts at $145 for 25.

How do you set up a file for booklet printing?

Send your booklet as a single PDF with the pages in final reading order, one page per PDF page, not as pre-built printer spreads. Our prepress team imposes the pages onto the press sheets and places the folds and staples, so a page that reads as page two lands exactly where it belongs in the finished booklet.

Where can you print booklets in Montreal?

You can print booklets at CDM Print on boul. Saint-Laurent in Montreal, saddle-stitched or perfect-bound in-house on our Xerox Versant press. Order online with free pickup or Canada-wide FedEx Ground shipping.

Frequently Asked Questions

Saddle-stitch works from 8 up to about 64 pages, stapled through the folded spine. Beyond that the book starts to bow open at the middle. From roughly 60 to 300 pages we switch to perfect binding, which gives a flat squared spine you can print on.

Yes for saddle-stitch. Each folded sheet produces four pages, so totals must be divisible by four (16, 20, 24, and so on). If your file is 22 pages, we will add two blanks or suggest where to place them. Perfect-bound books are more flexible.

Yes. Self-cover matches the interior stock throughout, and plus-cover uses a heavier sheet. A common combo is 100 lb gloss or matte text interior with a 100 lb or 12-pt cover, sometimes laminated. Perfect-bound books almost always use a plus-cover for structural reasons.

Supply the file as single pages, not spreads, with 0.125 inch (3 mm) bleed on all sides. Keep live text and logos at least 0.25 inch from the trim, and further from the gutter on perfect-bound books, since the spine glue pulls in about 0.125 inch.

Yes. The Versant handles variable data across the run, so sequential numbering, per-copy names, or dated ticket booklets are all straightforward. For workbooks and manuals with tables of contents, we can also insert tabbed dividers or coloured section separators during finishing.
